GUT is a project by visual artist Damien Flood. The record titled ‘For After Ever’ came about during the fracturing time of the pandemic. Many feelings and ghosts from the past resurfaced. Long forgotten personalities thought laid to rest made themselves known. As much as they were unwanted, they did bring with them a curiosity to revisit and reclaim passions of the past. The three tracks are not art and Flood does not consider himself a musician. GUT is a tool, a musical endeavour to examine a time when he made music with friends purely for the love and fun of it. It touches on a time, simultaneously celebrating and grieving the loss of a friend. It examines the fugitive world building nature of writing, recording, and releasing and the desire to share emotions and feelings. It is a different part of Flood’s personality, one that ties into his practice and further develops the humour and melancholic undertone to his work.
